The Wales Creative IP Fund
Finance Wales manages the £12m Wales Creative IP Fund on behalf of the Welsh Government. The WCIPF provides equity investment, typically between £50,000 and £700,000, for feature films, TV productions, new media and music projects.
The fund acts as a gap financier, offering finance for a production alongside finance already secured from other funding providers. The fund operates on a commercial basis and on similar terms to other private sector investors.
The project must be able to demonstrate:
- A minimum of 60 per cent of its total budget from other sources;
- An economic benefit to Wales. (As a minimum, the fund requires a spend of £1 in Wales for every £1 invested by the fund);
- A commercial proposition with a reasonable risk/reward ratio;
- A clear route to market, preferably with a sales agent or distributor on board;
