Wales has a temperate climate although it is generally slightly cloudier and wetter than England due to its hilly and mountainous terrain coupled with its proximity to the Atlantic. However being situated on the western side of the UK it is influenced by the gulf stream bringing milder conditions than would normally be associated with a country on this latitude. Being situated on the western extreme of the European continent weather conditions can vary considerably from week to week and sometimes from day to day.
Snow is common on higher ground during the winter but many lower lying and coastal regions only experience snow for a few days each year. Summer temperatures peak in the low 30's Celsius but tend to average nearer the mid to low 20's Celsius.
